Carroll County

Carroll County is located in the north central piedmont area of the State. About 56% of the land area is used in farming. The county is made up of rolling hills with year round fresh water streams.

Carroll County ranked third in the State for milk production in 1998 and is a leading table egg producing area. Fruit and vegetable production is increasing.

Carroll County was formed in 1837 from Baltimore and Frederick Counties. It is named after a revolutionary statesman and last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence, Carroll Carroll of Carrollton. The county seat is Westminster.
