Prince George's County was established on St. George's Day, April 23, 1696. The land was first part of Charles and Calvert Counties. The county was named for Prince George of Denmark, husband of England's Queen Anne. The county seat is Upper Marlboro.
The Hyatt Mansion (from an old postcard postmarked 1907), former home of the founder of Hyattsville.
Is this home still standing? If you know, use one of the e-mail links and tell me.
A note about postcards: When postcards were first used, the Post Office wouldn't let people write on the back where the address was, so they had to write on the front with the picture.
